GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE INTERSTED IN THE HEALTH CARE FIELD


We are offering for the right person to live RENT-FREE in our basement apartment roughly 2 miles south of the center of New Paltz.  The downstairs apartment has its own shower, toilet, heat, kitchenette and separate entrance, and will come with living room furniture.   No cigarettes and no pets.

This offer is IN EXCHANGE FOR BACK-UP HEALTH CARE ASSISTANCE for our disabled adult son.   In exchange for your rent-free apartment, we would require you to:

- have your own working and reliable transportation

- be able to lift our son (110 lbs.) who is paralyzed from the waist down, and also to position him in bed

- be home overnight when other adults are not available (you can sleep during this time)

- when covering these overnights, assist with making sure our son takes his medication and gets meals in the morning or at night and also assist with doing some laundry

- serve as back-up to our regularly scheduled health care aides who get our son up in the morning and put him to bed at night... this requires training which we will provide

Our son Joshua was born with Spina Bifida.  He is in a wheelchair and he is cognitively alert.   In simple terms, we are looking to trade free housing in exchange for a commitment to occasionally assist with his health care.   We are looking for a clean, non-smoker who is also caring, outgoing and responsible.   Interest in health care and/or experience as an HHA, PCA, CNA or RN can be helpful but not necessary, and again, we will train you to meet our son's needs.   

This could be a great opportunity for the right person to live rent free while helping out with just a few of the health care and home care needs of a really terrific young man.
