Hello,
I'm a mature grad student who's looking for a like-minded studious cottage-mate interested in healthy living practices.  Here's a little bit about me, my lifestyle & the space.

Rent is $425 mo + bills + one month's rent deposit
summer bills run about $30-40
winter bills run around  $65-75

The cottage is on 4.5 acres and is on a dead end road with a few houses and there are farms surrounding the area. It is located 1.5 miles south of the towne of Gardiner which has cute cafe, post office and a couple of restaurants.

The space is clean, smoke & TV free, only homemade/non-toxic cleaning products are used (this is something I'm unwilling to change) and as a bonus, there are plants in every window!

There's lots of light, natural wood, plenty of kitchen wares and furniture and storage space.

There's a back porch and bbq area and a screened-in side porch and space for a garden plot come next spring.

The loft is open and above the kitchen and living room, drapes or some other sort of enclosure could be worked out (I've got the tools and know how).

There's a 9yr old non-destructive indoor/outdoor cat and I will soon be getting a dog (who will for the most part be with me, even at school and never left alone for long periods of time).

I am not a vegetarian but do ask that only organic &/or local animal products be kept in the fridge as the norm rather than the exception.

I enjoy cooking incredibly tasty health food, making extra to share & putting funds together for staple foods like rice/beans/butter/flour...HOT SAUCE etc.  Also, have a penchant for baking cakes & know how to cook/bake for the gluten-free folk.

Music is great but I also enjoy a quiet house too & expect for it to be ok for all inhabitants to ask for a change in music or volume without either parties taking offense.

Donít need to be best friends with my housemate but I do enjoy an occasional shared meal & general concern for each otherís wellbeing.

I enjoy respectful/helpful house guests & visitors from far & wide (& will have them) but donít like living in a crash pad in any sense of the term.

I'm a former farmer/metal worker, gentle-rogue/traveler-turned-artist tomboy-Lady with a plethora of manual labor skills with tools to go with them & a horseback/bicycle rider.

* Also, I need a roommate who isnít afraid to say whatís on their mind with compassion and a general belief that problems can be solved.

All genders and orientations welcome

Email with any questions you may have....also, I'm happy to email photos of the space.

Hi Stacy,
I've found a wonderful place just down the road from you off Marabac, maybe we'll run into each other one of these days.  Hope you found the right person.  Post important FYI, my cat is FIV negative.

Thanks,
But I've lived on communes and in large communal settings, definitely looking for something that's more of MY home and maybe one or two nestmates.

Best of luck,
M.

Hello There Stranger,
My non-destructive cat and I are looking for a peaceful space to call home while I'm working on an MFA. I'd prefer to live in a space where I'd be able to have a garden, or at the very least work on the landscaping, that is within 10 miles of New Paltz. I may consider a special apartment but I'm happiest with my hands dirty & using my handy skills. Please, no private rooms for rent, must have full use of house and be able to have guests over for dinner etc.

Bits:

Enjoy a clean, smoke & TV free, healthy house.

Use homemade/non-toxic cleaning products.

Would consider living in a household with 1 or 2 roommates.

Have furnishings & a plethora of houseplants.

If I seem like a good fit, please drop me a line, I'd love to move sooner rather than later.

Hiya Erich,
I too am looking for a quiet place in the New Paltz area while I'm working on an MFA, preferably with space to have a garden, that accepts pets.  I enjoy the company of dogs and my cat is fond of large well-mannered dogs (she hates little dogs). So if your dog can be trusted with cats when its alone and I seem like a good fit, drop me a line.

Here's some bits:

Enjoy a clean, smoke & TV free, healthy house.

Use homemade/non-toxic cleaning products.

Would consider living in a household with one or two roommates.

Have plenty of furnishings & a plethora of houseplants.

Hello,
Iím looking for a peaceful space to call home while I'm working on an MFA.  Iíd prefer to live in a house/cabin where Iíd be able to have a garden, or at the very least work on the landscaping, that is either in New Paltz or on the bus line to it.  I may consider a very special apartment but Iím happiest with my hands dirty.  Take a gander at this time saving list below about my living habits/preferences & see if Iíd be a good fit for your property (&/or if weíd be a good fit for housemates).... give me a holler if it rings good to you.

Some Things (just insert I or I'm):

Enjoy a clean, smoke & TV free healthy house, use homemade/non-toxic cleaning products.

Not necessarily tidy (i.e. a coat/stack of books/drawing project left out...etc), but, happy to organize/remove my messes if mentioned...usually get to it on my own before that happens.

Prefer to live in a house with only organic &/or local animal products in the fridge.

Love cooking incredibly tasty health food, making extra to share & putting funds together for staple foods like rice/beans/butter/flour...HOT SAUCE etc.  Also, have a penchant for baking cakes & know how to cook/bake for the gluten-free folk.

Love music but also enjoy a quiet house too & expect for it to be ok for all inhabitants to ask for a change in music or volume without either parties taking offense.

Donít need to be best friends with my housemate but I do enjoy an occasional shared meal & general concern for each otherís wellbeing.

Have an 8 year old non-destructive short haired Siamese-mix cat who has NEVER made a potty mistake...ever....also have 2 elderly aquatic snails and would love to get a dog in a year or so or at least live with one that can be left alone with cats.

Enjoy respectful/helpful guests & visitors from far & wide (& will have them) but donít like living in a crash pad in any sense of the term.

Former farmer/metal worker, gentle-rogue/traveler-turned-artist tomboy/Lady with a plethora of manual labor skills with tools to go with them & last but not least, a horseback/bicycle rider with a future in motorcycles.

Have plenty of furniture: tables, antiques, shelving, couch etc. (so, do not want a furnished home but could get rid of some pieces)...& a ton of houseplants but I can pare Ďem down if needed.

Tend to decorate with a weird mix of Mexican hippy grandma & Wunderkammer.

Need to live in a space where folks arenít afraid to say whatís on their mind...with compassion and a general belief that problems can be solved.

Maximum rent 750 with utilities, prefer to pay less so I can eat more.

I could move as early as mid-June but, prefer July or August.

A household of 2 or 3 is ok by me.
